“You can have lasting relief. I never would have believed I could find anything that could permanently restructure my back and hip. It was so impactful, I pursued the trainings to certify, and use it today with all of my clients.” Laura Tyree
A gentle invitation for the body to let go.
At The Shāla, Myofascial Release through the John F Barnes Method is approached as a quiet, hands-on listening practice—one that invites the body to release.
Through gentle low-load traction and low-load compression, the tissues are given time, space, and support to soften and reorganize in their own natural way. There is no forceful stretching, manipulation, or pushing into restriction. Instead, we create the conditions for the fascia to respond from within.
Fascia is the continuous connective tissue that surrounds, supports, and connects every structure of the body. When it becomes restricted or loses its natural mobility, it can influence movement, posture, comfort, and the way we experience our bodies.
Myofascial Release works with this system through sustained, gentle contact and mindful attention. Rather than making the fascia release, it is allowed it to release—honoring the body's innate capacity to soften, adapt, and restore balance.
Each session is individualized and begins with an understanding of what you are experiencing and what your body may be asking for. The work is slow, intentional, and deeply respectful of the nervous system, creating an environment where meaningful change can unfold without force.
Your First Visit — 90 Minutes
Your first appointment is a 90-minute experience that includes:
· A personal consultation to understand your concerns and goals
· An introduction to the principles and approach of Myofascial Release
· A full therapeutic session tailored to your individual needs
· Time afterward for reflection, questions, and recommendations for continued care
Follow-Up Sessions — 60 Minutes
Follow-up appointments are 60 minutes and are designed to address the areas or patterns that need continued attention. Each session builds upon your body's response and meets you where you are that day.
A slower approach. A gentler touch.
The John F. Barnes PT LMT NCTMB Method of Myofascial Release is a gentle and effective treatment to re-balance the internal fascial matrix of your body. Accidents, stress, and repetitive action can thicken and ‘lock down’ fascia as a protective reaction. With this unique method, highly refined, gentle traction techniques and compression are applied to promote natural releases to the fascia. When the fascia is approached in a gentle way it surrenders adhesions without pain or damage, or incurring post inflammation and re-thickening.
90 minute first time treatment and evaluation $135
60 minute session $105
90 minute session $155
A Treatment Note from Laura:
“I look forward to seeing you for your appointment.
Just a reminder to be sure that your body is oil free and perfume free, so that I can have good skin contact with the MFR treatment.
At your first appointment, we will discuss the behavior and nature of fascia. You will also be given information about the techniques used. This is followed by a visual body evaluation and treatment. Ladies, please bring a bikini or wear a sports bra and shorts.
Gentlemen, running or gym shorts.
The clinic is located inside the lobby of Hot Yoga Om.
Hot Yoga Om is located in Downtown Fort Walton Beach, FL, beside the back entrance to the Northwest Florida Ballet on Brooks Street. The Ballet's back door, is our front door. Look for the courtyard with the graffiti on the wall and you will see Hot Yoga Om.
I’ll be waiting!”

"Oh my goodness! How amazing that you were able to drop my pelvis back into position without my hardly realizing it! I can sit crosslegged on the floor again! As I do tend to sit on the floor a great deal while teaching music to children, I constantly get up and down off the floor. My mobility so is greatly improved! I am so excited!
I truly appreciated your in depth explanation as to how the fascia works, where it's located, how it connects the body together. I also appreciated how thorough you were in evaluating my structural wonkiness and were able to address it, taking me a level beyond the PT and the therapeutic massage. What a very calm, quiet, restful space! You understand how to establish a tone which allows for going into parasympathetic state. Thank you, Laura!!" M.D.
"I have sooooo much gratitude for you. My foot is WONDERFUL and STRONG! I followed all of your meditative instruction and daily affirmations (written and verbal) and my pain finally LEFT!!
Last time I iced with pain was July a year ago. You are an angel." ~S.H.
"I'm looking forward to my next session. I have had NO sciatic nerve pain!!! I feel like a new woman. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Hell, I might just become Wonder Woman!" ~M.F.
